2009 Ford Edge

The 2009 Edge Sport makes it debut at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. Designed appeal to customers who want a sportier custom look and feel, Edge Sport keeps up with customers’ interest in personalization and industry shows like the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.

The Sport model – which joins the SE, SEL and Limited models in the range – makes the Ford Edge the first vehicle in its segment to offer a customized model. Its design and features like VistaRoof™ and SYNC helped make Ford Edge the nation’s top-selling crossover.

Edge Sport stands on available 22-inch polished aluminum wheels or the standard 20-inch premium painted wheels with branded center hubs. 40-series Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires complete the look. This marks the first time that a 22-inch wheel-and-tire combination has been offered on a crossover. The eight-piece Edge Sport body kit includes a unique front air dam, side skirts, lower door caps and a rear skirt, all finished in body color, instead of the dark lower on other Edge models. The front air dam features integrated fog lamps and a lower grille insert.

“The aftermarket industry has grown to a $40 billion annual business, and crossovers are the fastest-growing vehicle segment in the U.S.,” said Mark Fields, president of The Americas. “We want customers to know that Ford can customize their Edge – right at the factory.”

The 2009 Ford Edge Sport will be available in the fall of 2008.

Chris LaVoie says (November 18, 2008 at 2:32 pm):
Edge looks cool - but where is the 3rd row seat? Also you've really do new a hybrid or even better - one of those new european deisels with the 60 mpg - I know it would get less in a crossover - but 35 - 40 mpg would make this a killer vehicle.

Foregt bailout - just get the european deisels approved for the US. Ford sales would double.
Mom says (October 20, 2008 at 10:14 am):
Moms are looking for crossovers with seating for seven, good fuel economy and room for the kids and their friends. C'mon FORD!
yowon says (October 3, 2008 at 10:42 am):

Billy says (September 29, 2008 at 6:13 pm):
it's a huge SUV and I want it now!!!
Richard Hume says (September 12, 2008 at 1:09 pm):
I own a 2007 Prius but I drove an EDGE yesterday. The Edge is a much better and cool looking crossover than the Escape. If it was a hybrid I would trade in my Chrysler right now-c'mon Ford get with it
walon dixon says (September 6, 2008 at 8:16 am):
Make sur you put some sound to the mufflers. Nothing is smoth until you have some deep sound. Thanks,wd
Edge Owner says (September 5, 2008 at 8:42 pm):
I own the Edge now (2007) and love it but it's a lease which runs out next year...will I keep this car or get another Edge...probably not. The gas mileage isn't that great and, like everyone above, would love a hybrid or electric version also...get with it Ford!!!! I have never owned a foreign car but the Toyota Prius is very tempting
Chuck Biscuts says (September 5, 2008 at 2:07 pm):
What a joke! This vehicle weighs in excess of 4,000 LBS and their answer to sell more vehicles is to ADD more unsprung weight? The reason you would increase the size of a wheel is to reduce the height of the sidewall to make a tire corner more effectively. This is nothing more but a silly marketing gimick to cover up the poor choices that Ford has in fuel efficient vehices. I have owned three Fords and am turning in my F-150 on Saturday and NOT buying another Ford. The dealership and owner experience is terrible.
Mike with an Edgei says (September 5, 2008 at 1:56 pm):
I currently own an EDGE. I enjoy the car very much However, I wish the designers payed more attention to the driving visibility of this car. Head rest placement and angle of rear window make it difficult to view the areas behind lending this car to major blind spots. I have adjusted the mirrors numerous times to find that I can't get a real comfortable driving position. The fact that we need RPA on these vehicles lends itself to the designers chosing form over function in this area.
Pat says (October 2, 2008 at 11:34 am):
I have a new '08 Edge. First thing I did was remove the rear headrests so as to improve rear visibility. If you can't do it yourself the dealer will for free.
Car chick says (August 29, 2008 at 10:22 am):
I'd also like a hybrid Edge but turning in a car, no matter what the gas mileage, is not cost-effective.
I looked at the Aptera....be serious! Anyone who
drives that on a busy road has a death wish. You can
only complain about gas prices if you have a beating
heart. OK, it would look cool in the driveway.
Franck says (August 29, 2008 at 9:23 am):
is one pretty car, for my...
Michele says (August 24, 2008 at 7:30 pm):
I am looking into buying Ford Edge. I really want a hybrid, but my concern is this. I'm told mechanics don't even know yet how to service these vehicles.
Also, new batteries are 4,000.00- so you really wouldn't be saving anything if fuel cost is a concern. I am actually more concerned with the environment.
Are they making Edge hybrid yet? I have a Ford escape now, but uncomfortable for travel.
Sheri says (September 4, 2008 at 6:14 pm):
The batteries on new hybrids are guaranteed for 10 years and one could purchase additional maintenance warranties.
Also, Toyota dealers know how to work on their cars.
Anonymous says (August 12, 2008 at 4:18 pm):
the base behind a good looking vehicle is a good paint job

and this looks great
Antonin Borg says (August 4, 2008 at 8:01 am):
I'll agree on the comments about hybrid or diesel. When Lexus came out with their luxury RX400H several years ago, other companies like Ford should have been watching and acting. Now, they're catching up. Very sad.
Anonymous says (October 28, 2008 at 7:15 pm):
yeah, and do you know how much that costs!
it is a jip
Morris says (July 20, 2008 at 8:40 pm):
I will add my voice to the flood of concerned drivers----we need more choices in fuel and we need them NOW! This is a gorgeous comfortable safe car, suitable for families, couples or individuals. An engine change to electric or even hybrid
Gary Low says (July 18, 2008 at 6:42 pm):
I am ready to purchase a Ford Edge or Taurus X in a HYBRID. It's time to put the Asian auto companies in their place. How long do I have to wait?

Thanks
Bill says (July 16, 2008 at 12:59 pm):
I really would like to add my two cents, but from a "disabled" stand point. I tried about 18 types of vehicles and NONE comppared to the Edge for comfort and accessabliity.( I broke my scaula into 41 pieces and lose the use of my right arm forever) All other car companies make the lumber so hard I am unable tosit at all. I have gone back to sit in the Edge and LOVE every minute in it. When you lose use of one arm totally, you realize how very important have everything nearby is. I am waiting to take a "handicap driving access test" just so that I will be able to get the Edge in a Hybrid. I have read on here that they are converting one plant already for it and it is said to coem out in 2010 model year. Thank you to you alll for giving someone with needs a great place to let their view out
